Curtain and blind buying guides

Choosing window furnishings comes down to three questions. What does the room need, which fabric or material suits it, and what will it cost to get right the first time. These guides walk you through each decision for curtains, blinds, shutters and outdoor blinds, written by the Curtain World team in Perth.

Our curtains, roller blinds, vertical blinds and Veri Shades are custom made in our Malaga factory, and we partner with specialist makers, including Norman, for the rest of the range. Every product is custom measured either way. When you are ready, a free measure and quote puts an expert in your home to check the details.

Buying guide questions, answered

It depends on the room. Bedrooms usually benefit from blockout curtains or blockout roller blinds for darkness, living areas suit sheers or Veri Shades for soft light, and wet areas need moisture tolerant materials like shutters. Our guide "Curtains or Blinds? How to choose the right window furnishing" covers the decision room by room.

The main options are zip screen blinds, café style blinds and straight drop blinds. Zip screens seal against wind and insects, café blinds suit entertaining areas, and straight drops are the simplest to operate. "Types of Outdoor Blinds Explained" compares them in detail.
