Curtain and Blind Removal

For information on the safe and simple removal of blinds

Retractable pin Roller Blinds

Looking at the blind at the opposite end to the chain or motor, check if there is a serrated wheel. If there is then you have a blind with a retractable pin.

Proceed as follows.

  • Ensure that the blind is rolled fully up and the fabric is fully wound around the tube
  • If your blind is motorised, disconnect the power cable
  • Remove child safety device
  • Turn the serrated wheel and the pin will retract (ensure that you have a secure hold of the blind as it will become detached from the brackets)
  • When replacing the blind please ensure that the fabric is fully wound around the tube otherwise the blind may not pull all the way up after reaffixing the blind to the brackets
  • State law requires that all child safety devices are reinstalled

Spring pin Roller Blinds

Looking at your blind at the opposite end to the chain or motor, if there is no serrated wheel you have a blind with a spring pin.

Proceed as follows.

  • Ensure that the blind is rolled fully up and the fabric is fully wound around the tube
  • If your blind is motorised, disconnect the power cable
  • Remove child safety device
  • Gently lift and ease the chain control end of the roller out of the bracket and push it towards the pin end of the roller. It may be necessary to assist removal by using a flat-bladed screwdriver to prise the chain control end from the bracket
  • When replacing the blind please ensure that the fabric is fully wound around the tube otherwise the blind may not pull all the way up after reaffixing the blind to the brackets
  • State law requires that all child safety devices are reinstalled

Vertical Blind Removal

For safe and effective removal of your Vertical blinds.

Vertical blind removal

  • Ensure all blades are fully open (at right angles to the window)
  • Unclip all blades and either roll them up or lay them flat to avoid damage
  • The rail can then be removed by loosening the small screws at the front of the brackets
  • After removing the blind from the brackets, unclip the chain from the child safety device by sharply tugging the chain downwards
  • To reinstall a Vertical Blind just reverse the procedure above ensuring that the blades are clipped up at right angles to the window
  • If you find that some of the blades are out of alignment, use the cord control to ensure the blades are pulled fully across the window and then close the blades, keep pulling the chain until all of the blades line up (it will be quite stiff and make a clicking sound)
  • State law requires that all child safety devices are reinstalled
